February 20, 2025 – Community Farm Winter Care Team

Terry supports the animal care team. Hecreated a special casing to protect the hose from freezing up as it travels downhill inbetween the two barns, from the hydrant to the animal trough. When the super cold snap of -0 weather out smarted him, he shlepped water every day for a week from the house, till he got the hydrant working again!

In addition to engineering water delivery, Terry also trouble shoots the tractor that Nigel and Pete use to deliver round bales in the field. He installed electricity in the barns many years ago and set up solar panels as a source of electricity for the farm. Last summer he updated the box for electrifying the animal fencing and right now he is working on a solar powered sand box heater for the greenhouse to replace propane when Kacee starts seedlings in the spring. Thank you Terry for your dedication and creativity!

Right now the ice and snow and cold seem like they will be here forever but spring will re-emerge!. Kacee has ordered seeds and is dreaming of a spring equinox tea around a fire in March. Karen is planning for an egg hunt in April, and PeterB is ready to get the may pole out in May!  Till then, stay warm, and eat well.
